The
smaller, the better.
The Low Temperature Co-Fired Ceramic (LTCC) processing
technique allows NASCENTechnology to combine the magnetic material and
the transformer winding packing into one integrated unit.
This process is made possible by stacking thin ferrite
layers containing miniature winding coils one upon another and
connecting them using conductor filled vias.
The result is a very flat multilayer structure with a
very small footprint - a miniature monolithic transformer in which
bobbins, core and magnet wire are all eliminated.
The
transformer has shrunk.
