It began, as most births do, with an idea.

Our development team wondered about applying the technology found in magnetic components, such as tape recorders, hard drives, etc., to the transformer.

The idea was to create a "miniature monolithic" transformer that is a single, integrated unit, replacing the component type process used by the wire-wound transformer.

The codeword assigned to the project was "Red Wing", and it began as a highly speculative venture. No changes had been made in transformer manufacture for 100 years , and there was no guarantee we would deliver on its potential.

Research followed. Patents were investigated. Inventors were solicited.

And a new process was born - the Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic (LTCC) process that turned "Project Red Wing" into a success.

For decades and decades, industry had utilized the wire-wound transformer. 

And now, NASCENT.
